Miami Sunshine Tango Festival - Organizers

Mariela Barufaldi & Mariano Bejarano

Mariela and Mariano offer over 25 years of combined experience in South Florida as tango teachers, performers, deejays and organizers. Sharing a genuine passion for the dance and dedication to promoting tango culture, they joined forces in 2018. With the Miami Sunshine Tango Festival, they invite all tangueros and tangueras to a unique world-class tango experience and join in the global tango connection - expanding & enriching the tango family…one sunny, perfect tan(da) at a time.

Mariela Barufaldi - Argentine born, Mariela Barufaldi has dedicated her entire life to dance and performance. Classically and theater trained from an early age, she discovered her passion for Argentine Tango in 2004 and has since made it her career; teaching, choreographing, producing and performing throughout the United States. She co-founded Tango Axis, LLC and opened The Argentine Tango School of Miami in 2010, which was honored with a Proclamation by Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez for bringing the art and knowledge of Argentine Tango to South Florida, thus declaring July 12th Tango Axis Day.  Mariela has produced & choreographed the shows “Eras del Tango” and “Tango Suites” debuting at the Colony Theater in Miami Beach to sold out audiences. Her latest performances include: Cachivache Quinteto Miami Tour (2018), Maria de Buenos Aires (Atlanta Opera 2017, New Orleans Opera 2017, Nashville Opera 2017, Florida Grand Opera 2013), Luis Bravo’s Forever Tango (2016). She is passionate about sharing her country’s most popular dance which was declared part of the world’s “intangible cultural heritage” by UNESCO.

Mariano Bejarano - Born in Rosario, Argentina, Mariano’s love of music and movement as self-expression began with studies in music theory and contemporary and Latin dance. As a teenager, he was introduced to tango through Argentina’s milongas, which gave him a deep sense of the traditions of tango as expression of culture. Mariano has over ten years of professional experience teaching, performing and organizing tango events in South Florida including Florida Tango Encounter(2015 & 2017) and Miami Tango Weekend with Sexteto Milonguero & Los Totis(2018) and events with the world-renowned Cachivache Quinteto, Orchestra La Juan D’Arienzo, Osvaldo Zotto and Sebastian Achaval and Roxana Suarez. Mariano has studied in Argentina and the United States with masters such as Roberto Maiolo, Diego Baldanza, Pablo Villarraza, Jorge Torres, and Gustavo Naveira, among others. He currently organizes, teaches and deejays two milongas in Miami, Miami Tango Club and TangOcho, one of the longest-running weekly milongas in South Florida.

He has been invited to DJ in Buenos Aires, Rosario, and throughout the United States (San Diego, Los Angeles, Tampa, Gulfport, St. Petersburg, Orlando, Houston, Chicago, Austin, New York, New Orleans) and at festivals including Fantasy Festival (Miami), Florida Tango Festival (Ft Lauderdale), Red Carpet Tango (Las Vegas), One City Tango Marathon (Newport News, VA), UTF Festival (Tampa), Tango Gypsy Marathon (Detroit) and the Honolulu Tango Marathon (Honolulu).
